Relief & Disaster Management: Our goal is help local communities during natural calamities and disasters. A cyclone in the Indian Ocean equivalent of a hurricane called “Fani” hit the coast of Odisha state on Friday, 3rd May 2019 at a magnitude somewhere between Category 3 and 4. The wind speed was 200 km per hour. The local Indian Government pulled off a near miracle, evacuating over 1.2 million people ahead of the storm, resulting in a death toll under 50. Many local villages, were able to take shelter in the STEP campus’s concrete buildings. We helped with food and water during this crisis. So far, 5000+ have been helped with relief and food packages.
